Discovery Flights

Your first time in a small airplane. No experience needed — just come ready to have a great time.

What is a discovery flight?

A discovery flight is exactly what it sounds like — a chance to discover what flying is all about. You'll sit in the left seat (that's the pilot's seat), go through a real pre-flight briefing, taxi out, take off, and actually fly the airplane. I'll be right next to you the entire time handling anything you're not comfortable with.

There's no test, no pressure, and no commitment. Some people book a discovery flight because they're thinking about getting their pilot's license. Others just want to experience something new. Either way, you'll walk away knowing whether flying is something you want to pursue — and most people can't stop smiling for the rest of the day.

What to expect

The whole experience takes about an hour and a half from start to finish.

01

Before the flight

We'll meet at the airport, walk around the airplane together, and I'll explain what everything does. You'll get a quick briefing on how the controls work and what we'll do in the air.

02

During the flight

You'll take the controls and actually fly. We'll cruise over the area, practice some gentle turns, and you'll get a feel for how the airplane responds. I'll handle the radio and anything you're not ready for.

03

After the flight

We'll debrief and talk about what you experienced. If you're interested in lessons, I'll walk you through what the training process looks like and answer any questions you have. No sales pitch — just honest conversation.

Tips for your first flight

What to know before you go

  • Wear comfortable clothes and shoes you can walk in — you'll be stepping up onto the wing to get in
  • Sunglasses are a good idea, especially on bright days
  • Eat a light meal beforehand — don't come on an empty stomach but don't come overly full either
  • If you're prone to motion sickness, take something ahead of time — turbulence in a small plane feels different than a car
  • Bring your phone or a camera if you want photos — I'm happy to take some for you in the air
  • Discovery flights make great gifts — ask about gift certificates
